My service engine soon light came on in my 2001 F250 7.3 6speed (it is tuned if that matters). I plugged the scanner in to pull the code and the scanner wont even turn on, much less read the code. I've used the same scanner before and it worked fine. So now I'm pretty much lost on what to do next. Any ideas?

go to autozone

Care to explain how that would help? I have very little faith in the autozone clowns lol

They will pull the code for free with a different scanner...since you have provided little detail about your scanner other than it doesn't work.

Yeah they can scan it and tell you the codes. Or you can buy a new scanner.

I've used this scanner before and it worked fine. I'll try and try it on another truck to be sure... btw its an Actron Autoscanner

Your actron probably doesn't support CAN. most acton diy ones aren't compatible with diesels for that matter diesels aren't obd-ii compliant for the most part. If you can't get someone to scan it let me know, I have a autoenginuity pc scanner that can read the 6.0/7.3/etc..

Check to see if the Cig. Lighter fuse is blown. The OBD port is on the same fuse.

Blown fuse... and made friends with a kid with a SCT scanner/programmer to clear it all out.
