Im going to the other side.....
I have a 98 TJ that i picked up cheap and put a motor in it. It had a 4inch or so lift on it and i threw some 33's on. So i take it for a ride to the inspection station and to no surprise its a super serious pig with the auto trans. I played with the TV cable a little to change shift points but of course nothing is a cheap fix.
I have read some say 4.88's and some say 4.56's any real world experience from you guys would be awesome.

The problem is no OD in the 3 speed. I wouldn't bother regearing the D35 regardless.

4.56 if your staying with 33's. thats was how mine was set up years ago.

I'd put the TV cable back to where it was. The vast majority of shift timing is controlled by the governor. Incorrect TV pressure will kill that transmission quickly.

Cool, thanks for the info. Now all i need to do is find someone that is upgrading axles cause i priced new carriers and gears plus bearings and all my time to set them up. I sure am not going to put all that money into whats in it, id rather deal with finding some axles that have 4.10's or something and just live with it. Anything is better than the 3.07's or whatever is in it now.

IIRC, it has 4.10s in it already. They *might* be 3.73, but it's sure not 3.07.

3.73 in the auto 4 cyl. you shouldnt need new carriers unless you are locking it.
keep an eye out for a set of rubi 44's for 4.10's

I have read 4.88s are the way to go with a 4cyl 5sp and 33s. Good luck
