this is a rant if you agree i get a +1...if not -1

so im working in laurel next to this chevy dealership...so about 3am i walk over to the lot to eye f$ck this dually they have sitting there...white diesel 4x4 tv's N sh!t ..fully loaded ...and i know already what it should cost but seeing it on the sticker still hurts...59k

i like trucks...i like white trucks...i like to tow...i like chebbys (gmc in this case, that frikin grill is badass) i like four wheel drive..i like tv's N sh!t ...but who buys a $60K truck? you know the saying...the sum of the parts blahblahblah...in my head i cant see this thing being in 10000 pieces and me making 60k on ebay...

i want an 09 4x4 1ton dually with diesel and all color matching parts (not gray plastic sh!t) with vinyl bench seats, rubber floor, a shelf where the $4K nav system was for my Ipod...non-heated dual reversible backup sensor time travel mirrors...i can go on, for 25Kish??? sum of all the parts?? am i way off? because i dont think you can buy the most dumbed down version of this truck for less then 35K
and yes i understand the overall concept of the bailout and the reasons for it but it drives me crazy to give billions of our $$$ to a company that makes stuff that is unattainable for the people who would want it
all that thing is going to do for the first 6 years is tow a horse trailer for some VP's bored wife so she can park the f$cking thing caddycorner across all the gas pumps at the highs off 23 so no one can get gas until princess is done getting a gatorade with her stupid rubber horse boots...
then get handmedowned to one of us for 30k....or albert haynsworth could buy it to tow his $90K 'rock buggy' to the trail....because i dont think it would fit in the parking lot at my doctors or my lawyers office so i dont think they would buy it...:alan:

the hate is strong today

Another example. My b-i-l is a manager at a Chebby dealership. He had 2500 extended lenght box van for some reason. It had vinyl seats, and NOTHING else. The entire inside was bare metal. $31K.

Example 2. He loses buyers to GMC because they're "higher quality" that the Chevy. Uh....made side by side, people?

At this point in time I would not buy from Government Motors any way. That being said there is no way I would ever drop 60k on a truck. I would be scared to actually use something that costs that much. That first dent would be really pain full.

BTW, we recently bought a super expensive truck. The sticker price is nowhere close to what you pay. Expect to get $10,000 off the sticker price without trying.

So, what you are saying is, using his example of the "59K" truck one could expect to get said gem for a mere $49K.

That is affordable.:(

that is exactly what i am talking about...31k:rolleyes:
i just saw one the other day with the duramax (which i didnt know they offered) so that poor bastard paid another 7-10K for a frikin creepy child molsester van with no windows...the only van that should cost more then 30K is the Ateam van because at least that had all the cool computer stuff inside
why cant someone give me the motortranscaserearsframecabandbed for 25

and jack i think you work for the government? so your in on the whole damn conspiracy...seriously jack i assume your a DualIncomeNoKids? so i can see that...but even 10k off the sticker and 10k cash down...thats 800 a month
i cant remember the last time i saw a new $60k truck in the lot at rc...even at the track those guys come in on sat. pulling $20K race trailers with half ton pickups...and most are gassers

i guess its like the housing market...you have all this 600k houses being built in blue collar neighborhoods being bought by hvac guys and electricians (except lou..hes a superlectrician)etc...they were all living the dream because of easy questionable loans...now its all back to reality...how many blue collar people can afford that much of a payment? so what happens...the houses are empty and builders stop making them because no one wants them
same thing happens to Gm...maybe no one will buy them and they will make my motortranscaserearsframecabandbed truck for 25K...in white of course:lol:

you know what...i dont even know what my point is... im going to bed

+1 Went by the Ferd dealer in my town (about 35 minutes north of Crozet) and they have 100+ trucks.

Some of the big loaded trucks well past 55k. This is a farming town with a small percentage of bedroom community DC workers/.gov workers.

They make it unaffordable to buy a good solid product on a medium wage income nowadays.

I too would buy a stripped down, 4x4, crew, diesel, manual, with air/cruise and maybe about it but it would still cost me almost 40k.

That number is not even on my radar.

That last part of your post about the housing market is so true. It will put me out of a job soon enough. I miss the days of the normal sized cookie cutter house. They sold, they sold well, they were pretty affordable too.

There are several websites out there in which you can build a truck to your specifications and will show the actual price and the bullshit price the dealer will try to sell you. They also will show the invoice price for the truck. I did this before buying mine and it help me get a 41K truck for 33K.

I used the truck builder on NFCU's website:
http://www.navyfederal.org/autocenter/webcarbook.html

That being said, I'll never waste my money on a new truck again....

I cry every time I see a stripped down f-350 crewcab loaded with 10 mexicans towing a utility trailer with 2 mowers and 40 weed wackers, or a gmc 3500 duelly towing a single horse trailer. You know by the time the f350 is resold it will be worn out, smell like burritos, and covered in dents and have 400k on the clock. The 3500 will still be a 40k cause the orginal owners paid way to much for a truck they didnt really need.

I miss the days of a real working mans truck.

I dunno that DINKS, saddle moms and landscaping mexicans alone should have to shoulder the blame for this prob. Look at the piles at any wheelin venue anymore. Used to be a past time one could enjoy with little more than a stock beater vehicle. Now you can't swing a twinkie w/o hitting a buggy or some other contraption on >35" tires and a V8. Kinda the same mentality at work and to an even greater extent...don't ya think? After all, who really NEEDS a buggy or >35" tires?

I don't think a recreation-only vehicle and basic transportation are exactly the same thing.

...and you can still enjoy this past time with little more than a stock beater. Just don't hit me with your twinkie.

+1. theyre all over priced junk! and yes i drive one of them. 50k for a truck that the ford mechanics know all too well. as for the new ones.. 59k for a sticker price for a chevy with those cheap ass plastic wheel covers on the dualies, no step bars and an $8500 upgrade to a motor that will probably give you all kinds of issues due to the emissions crap. no thanks. or a ford that just has shitty motors. what happened to the 7.3. man were they stupid. and with that said when this one wears out i'll go buy another and bitch some more.

No the problem is most people are not willing to pay that much for them so the car companies start to fail and we get to bail them out with our tax dollars. So they can keep over charging for their products.

My complaint is more location related. I see well priced used trucks all the time listed out west, but everything around here has a ton of miles for the price.

I went through this same problem when shopping for my truck. All I wanted was a stripped down, vinyl floor, crank up window, crew cab, 7.3L Superduty. It was damn near impossible to find a "work truck" in the tri-state area! All I could find was XLTs and Lariats with leather, and carpet, and power butt massagers. I have come to the conclusion that it must be a very small percentage of us there that actually intend on using a truck as a truck. Patients however paid off and three months into my search I found "the one". A one owner, mans man, that bought the truck with the same philosophy that I had, a truck should be a truck! He was thrilled to hand the keys to someone that could appreciate that. Now that I have her, I honestly hope I never have to buy another truck as long as I live.

Thats the same as the Cummins I almost bought two years ago... It was the last year of the 12-valve with 60,000 miles with a 5-speed... $8500

I probably should have bought it, but I wanted the dealership the give me $1000 more for my truck then they were willing to give me, so I walked out...

Cheap trucks are out there, you just have to be willing to sit and wait.

The only time my truck gets started is to drive at least 500 miles for the most part. I did 800 this past weekend to Rausch and back. I've got a bad back and the seats in the Refrigerator Edition trucks just don't work for me. I kinda like having the extra stuff. My truck is an 02 2500 HD and had 23k on the ticker when I bought it last yr. Paid 15,500 with most of the cool stuff. Just have to wait it out and find the deal. Mine was at the park and ride off 152.

I am very happy with my truck for what I paid for it. The deals are out there, you just have to be patient and willing to travel. I don't see myself buying a new tow rig anytime soon, and if I do it will defiantly be used. Hopefully I can retire my truck to towpig/occasional DD (that way I can make it go faster) sometime this spring.
