As a note to find out if a swap or something similar is allowed you can contact the Maryland State Police Automotive Safety Enforcement Division

I called them and asked about a diesel engine swap in an originally gas powered vehicle. They said that it was fine as long as the original emissions equipment was there :bang: That doesn't even make sense in reallity... Anyone have any other input regarding a diesel repower in MD?

Sure. Move to St. Mary's County, register it with the gasser, get it inspected, swap in the diesel and never deal with inspections again. :P

Diesel's in and done, it's legal in PA now...

I am swapping a V8 into my 1985 CJ7 form the original 151 CI, what they told me at the emissions test station is the jeep has to pass emissions for the year it is titled.

They are not the experts on the law but they do know what they test and the specs.

With the emissions on the 2005 motor being tested to 1985 specs I do not expect to have nay issues.
