Stubborn u-joint caps

Blew a u-joint on Saturday... I've tried pressing out both caps, but I can't get 'em out past there. Vice grips are just spinning, no matter how tight I get it on there.
Suggestions?

They're prolly kicked sideways in the holes. Push em back in with a vise and try again

That's what I thought at first, I tried that a few times - tried both sides, too.

You did take the clips out right? I forfawkingot that one time...lemme tell ya, it brings the suck when you remember by popping the joint through the cap...

Get a u-joint tool at harbor freight, they are pretty cheap, and you can't usually take a shop press to the trail when you need it.
